Spanish fly – what exactly is it?

Spanish fly, also known as an aphrodisiac, is a substance known for enhancing sexual arousal and thus the desire for sex. What does Spanish fly do to you? It's supposed to affect three different aspects:

  • The sex drive – The desire for sex also known as libido .
  • The potency – The ability to receive sexual stimuli.
  • Sexual pleasure – The degree to which sex can be enjoyed and the excitement it brings.

Placebo effect or scientifically proven

To date, no scientific research has been able to demonstrate that Spanish fly has a substantiated effect on the three different aspects of sexual arousal. Currently, this is referred to as a placebo effect, in which (sexual) fantasy plays a significant role.
